Job Overview

Summary Statement

Coordinates the City of Boise website projects with the Digital Communications Senior Manager. Maintains, updates and creates content for the affiliated websites through content management systems. Assists with social media content creation and coordinating social media posts to city social media channels. Coordinates e-newsletter communication and assists other communication managers on additional projects, as needed. Possess a strong knowledge of project management, web content creation, web usability, and client relations. Performs all work under general supervision.

Essential Functions

Maintains content on the City of Boise and affiliated websites, both internal and external, through content management systems. Through Communications Managers, works with business owners to identify content opportunities and improvements. Writes, collaborates, creates and edits content and coordinates with clients in order to continually improve web-based content. Works with IT development staff to bring enhancements to city websites and the content management system. Implements time sensitive updates to web content. Maintains consistent look and feel of the city-wide website(s). Upholds the City of Boise’s brand standards and best practices when creating content for websites. Helps maintain the digital media calendar for website content updates. Maintains knowledge of Google Analytics and the ability to report data to the organization and use data to improve the website experience (40%)
Assists social media manager, as assigned, on management of city social media channels, including: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube. Develops content, posts updates and responds to comments and inquiries. (25%)
Assists communication managers, as assigned, on communications projects. Executes communication plans under the direction of communication managers. Writes copy for communication and marketing plans and works with graphic designers to execute visual communications (20%)
Coordinates and executes the City of Boise e-newsletter(s). Under the direction of the Digital Communications Senior Manager, maintains the content calendar(s), coordinates content assignments, layout and send the newsletter. Under the direction of content owners, writes and edits content. Manages signups for the external newsletter(s) and looks for the opportunity to grow subscriber base. Reviews analytics on performance and makes recommendations based on data. (15%)

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Computer Science or related field and two years of experience in website development, management, marketing or communications, and two years of experience working with website content management systems and two years of experience managing or analyzing Google analytics for business or organization and equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills; flexible to adjust to change, personalities, and shifting priorities at a moment’s notice; positive energy with a get it done and get it done right attitude; strong commitment to client services, providing customer experience with ‘Wow’; part of a small and growing team with a lot of needs from the organization it supports; this person will need to be comfortable with jumping right in to help complete the work; composed and professional in stressful situations, ranging from interpersonal conflict to emergency situations. Displays an attitude of cooperation and can work harmoniously with all levels of city employees and community members.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Computer Science or related field. As well as 3-4 years of experience in website development and management, marketing or communications, 3-4 years of experience working with website content management systems. 2-3 years of experience managing or analyzing social media accounts/metrics for a business or organization.

Valid Drivers license.
